I love Blue Jays so much. I haven’t come across any jay nests myself, but I saw this and had to share!

Baby blue jays are very fluffy around the neck (we call it the mink stole!) but the neck between the head and shoulders at this age is devoid of all feathers. They will grow tho. In the meantime, the voice box works just fine!
The alert call can be a tad harsh, even to my ears, but when they are excited to see me and do the squeaky gate or the hungry baby sounds, especially when I can see them bobbing or flapping, I can’t think of much that would be more charming.
