    I surely do get the reference. That didn’t need to be explained and it doesn’t really engage with what I was saying.

    Even at the time, many butch lesbians made it known that they did not appreciate that particular word being used as an insult. It’s a reclaimed term that once was only ever used as an insult but instead now people used as a self descriptor, much like “dyke” or “queer”. So when a straight person uses those terms as a insult, it generates a lot of side eye. It’s easy enough to call yourself an ally, but it shows your true thoughts when you lean on homophobic tropes. Just as jokey misgendering is not appreciated among the trans community.

    I’m not tying to be the fun police but as a queer woman, with many dyke, butch, and trans friends. I just want you to understand that the community as a whole, reads this sort of thing as outdated boomer cringe.
