I admire your honesty and capacity for self-reflection. But shipping is huge in the Great Lakes. You can also get to the Atlantic from them.

Fun fact: it’s possible to circumnavigate the eastern half of the US via the Great Lakes and the Mississippi River.

That never occurred to me before and now I want to do it.

Me too, although politics is making me more interested in sailing away from the US at the moment.

I’m also looking into getting out, but I’d still love to do that. Very cool.

You can, but you’re still spending the vast majority of your time in US jurisdiction (which is bad if it turns into a fascist dictatorship and you’re trying to flee…).

Oo, oo, lemme drop this lil tidbit in too,

            https://www.ic.org/directory/a-watership-down/

Current Focus: Ohio River (Cincinnati to Louisville) to Canada to Montreal (Quebec) to Nova Scotia to Maine] [Secondarily any of the great lakes or the ohio river; Mississippi still a possible]

A water-based, sustainable effort, with a view to a better quality of life. (tentative statement) disclaimer: almost all of this is planned; the only actuals are a couple of sailboats on the ohio river; there are no requirements for supporting one another
