Hear me out: given a choice between running the engine completely dry of oil, and using vegetable oil, which would be worse? The vegetable oil is going to gum things up. I guess you’re looking at an engine replacement either way.

As long as she gets an oil change well before winter, she, and the engine, will probably be just fine.
