I wonder the same thing. A lot of the commenters seem to have read the headline alone, and assumed that the story is about Newsom trying to exile or jail homeless people, but that’s not what the article says. A few important points:

an executive order Thursday to direct state agencies on how to remove homeless encampments

The order makes clear that the decision to remove the encampments remains in local hands.

Newsom has worked hard to address the issue. He threw all of his political weight behind a ballot measure earlier this year to allow the state to borrow nearly $6.4 billion to build 4,350 housing units, which passed with a razor-thin margin.

Land value in major metro areas is probably a lot more.

Lol… Median price is los angleles is 1 million.

That means half are sold under that price

House price inherently includes land value in it.

I don’t understand what point you are trying to make about land value.

I just read the article and I’m telling you that the Supreme Court caused this executive order.

Yep, it’s every bit as cruel as the title portrayed.

Under Newsom’s direction, state agencies — including state parks and the Department of Transportation — would be required to prioritize clearing encampments that pose safety risks, such as those camping along waterways. Officials should give advance notice to vacate, connect homeless people to local services and help store their belongings for at least 60 days. Local cities and counties are urged to adopt similar protocols.

I guess we will just have to see how this goes to reveal the true intent behind the order. If this helps the homeless population, great! Based off of the US’s track record for these events, I do not expect good things.
