pcm validates naziism as just another option compared to libertarian socialism. it has always had this problem.

    edit:

Jesus Christ. please don’t let my most upvoted comment be in pcm. amen.

I have the option to become a serial killer as a lifestyle, but I choose not to, because I’m not deranged.

Likewise, the option to be a Nazi is there, for most people. But most people choose not to be a Nazi, because they aren’t deranged. Acknowledging that Nazis exist and are somewhere on the political spectrum is not inherently validating Nazism.

The problem comes about when people, and especially the community moderators, try to treat all the options as equally valid.

I used to clown around on pcm a lot, larping as different points in the graph. We had a good time lampooning actual events thru the funhouse mirror of different flanderized political positions. But yeah… It changed. I don’t know when, but it got fucking nasty, i realized i wasn’t in on the joke anymore, that i by participating was normalizing fascist thought.

Thinking back on it, that may have been when i started looking for a new place that wasn’t reddit.
