      This is off-topic but… I hope you don’t mind.

I could be the only one thinking this way, but IMO, places bearing names of real people should be reverted to whatever it is they were before the renaming. Hence, I’d love to see Quezon province revert to Tayabas (province), Rizal (province) revert to Morong, or Quezon City be… no, wait that’s an entire aisle of cans of worms.¹

And really, even if we look at places in other countries that are named after people, such as Washington state (US), it doesn’t really give me much. Sure, it’s in honor of some guy named Washington, but do I really want a Philippine province named “Aguinaldo”? Hell no!

It’s already bad enough that our country is named after some prince. (I’d argue, however, that that ship has already sailed, and that we already have enough stake on the name Philippines that renaming our country is no longer necessary, the time for that should have been more than a hundred years ago, and at most, seventy-odd years ago.)

      • ¹ Quezon City is a Frankenstein’s monster created from bits and pieces absorbed from its surrounding localities, and that’s an oversimplification of the history and politics of its birth.

Ahh!! Oo nga! Pwede!! It’s within QC, and it’s a historically significant (and recognizable) name to use!
