I’m with you, buddy. Like most franchises these days, creators are playing it safe and looking inward and filling in smaller and smaller gaps in canon. As opposed to looking outward and giving us something new, at the risk of it being rejected. Me, I’d prefer to see something different than something familiar, but I guess my continuing Disney+ subscription tells the higher ups otherwise…

Aren’t we getting a High Republic era show and a Dawn of the Jedi film soon? That’s definitely moving outside of the small 60 odd year period of the films.

I hope so… But I’m not holding my breath. I’m actually fairly positive about the Disney era (adore TFA, love TLJ, haaaate TROS) , but Lucasfilm have got to stop announcing projects in early development only to can them a year later

I think the High Republic one, The Acolyte, is already filming or in post. I agree on the Dawn of the Jedi film though given Mangold’s Indy is flopping and his attached to the new DC slate too.

Yeah, and I certainly understand the trend with the growing competition of media. I think that notion will stick around, but it will also ebb and flow when the bottom line demands fresh content. That feels justified as Pixar is looking for something that works instead of rereleasing Zootopia and Inside Out again.
