God I remember when the FAFSA ruled my entire life. My dad (only parent) was an asshole and refused to give me any of his financial information because he didn’t want “them” to have it. Mind you, he was on government disability so it’s not like “they” didn’t know. But I couldn’t fill it out properly.
I don’t know if things changed and this was decades ago at this point but filling it out when you had hostile parents was a goddamn nightmare. I know I qualified for more aid than I got, since his contribution was actually zero and not whatever they calculated.
Ugh I haven’t thought about that in years. Sounds like they’re still the worst.
