The difference here is that LOTR is actual literature. The Joker is pulp from an era where villains were really silly. You’ll be okay, I think.
I wouldn’t be so bold as to walk into to conversation about genre fiction and start categorizing them as “literature” or “pulp”.

I hate musicals too, but it worked with Sweeny Todd. But I’m very skeptical.
