    I don’t buy into that.

    Unfortunately, many women have been through similar horrible things. This is how she behaves following those events, not every domestic abuse and SA survivor, making this her issue all the same.

    So I’m not going to excuse the behavior by saying she is this way because of what she went through. I fully understand she’s been traumatized, but I feel like saying “the reason is” is excusing it.

    To be clear I don’t think you are excusing her behavior, just providing insight. At the same time it can be seen as excusing.

      It sure isn’t an excuse, nor is it the only explanation for her behavior. It is of course complex (hence people are affected differently by the same things happening to them). But I’d go as far as to say it’s a major contributing factor, and probably even the foundation which everything else sits upon. Had she not been traumatized like that I don’t think she’d be saying the things she says today.
