Doug reacts to Jordan Peterson talking to Elon Musk on religion and how Christianity is a good set of principles to build a society on. But what they don’t know is that it’s not just principles.

If you think Christianity is an ethics, you understood nothing about Christianity. The will to determine what’s wrong or right absolutely is the original sin (isn’t it the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil that Adam and Eve ate?). The Bible taught us that it’s impossible to know how to act goodly, but that we can live knowing that we are loved by God anyhow. You can’t construct an ethics, or a secular society on these principles! Christianity is a force that should fight every government, every hierarchy, every norm.
You’re right, Christianity is the story of God’s love, but we do know what is right and wrong because of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, that is why we are held accountable. In fact, the word conscience means “with knowledge.” Faith, on the other hand, is what allows us to be forgiven, because unlike the angels, no man has seen God. It pleases God for us to have faith, because it allows Him to be able to justly forgive our sin.
Rom 2:14 For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves: Rom 2:15 Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;)
Heb 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
You’re also right that what Peterson and Musk call “cultural christian” is a total misunderstanding of what Christianity is. They want all the benefit and none responsibility.
