I have a hard time imagining a scenario where the people responsible for ruining someone’s live with a false conviction have the money to pay for reasonable compensation. Cops and prosecutors shouldn’t be multimillionaires.
That’s why they should be required to have practice insurance and independent licensing boards.
Just like how a doctor needs malpractice insurance and to maintain their medical license, judges and cops should too.
You ruin someone’s life, they get payed out of your insurance. Ruin too many lives and can’t afford your insurance? Tough fucking luck, go dig ditches instead.
