minus-squareDrusaslinkfedilink1•24 days agoIt doesn’t. Our criminal justice system is really just a punishment system. Whenever this guy gets out of prison, he’ll have his wages garnished and the money that he owes will be paid back. It doesn’t help the kid now.

Nope, he’s dead. Life sentence is already served.
He’ll still owe the child support, but his ability to pay it will be greatly reduced.
How does that help the child that needs support?
It doesn’t. Our criminal justice system is really just a punishment system. Whenever this guy gets out of prison, he’ll have his wages garnished and the money that he owes will be paid back. It doesn’t help the kid now.
