For me, it may be that the toilet paper roll needs to have the open end away from the wall. I don’t want to reach under the roll to take a piece! That’s ludicrous!

You’re right. Funny how language can evolve, like if a phrase from an obscure German sociologist takes on a colloquial meaning not quite in line with its academic definition in the original treatise. 🤣
