Paul Rudd and Jack Black might be heading to the jungle. Deadline is hearing that while no deal is done, the two are in early talks to star in new take on Anaconda at Sony Pictures. The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent writers Tom Gormican and Kevin Etten penned the script, with Gormican planning to direct. Brad Fuller and Andrew Form are producing through Fully Formed banner.

Sources say this latest version is not a remake but a new take with the same snake front and center, with a story that leans more toward comedy.

A dragon made of mushrooms flys around kingdoms breathing hallucinogenic spores over the nobles, and now the peasants have to conduct negotiations with the neighboring kingdom. It’s a comedy.

Anaconda except it’s giant guinea pigs. In fact, do a whole universe of larger versions of animals. Giant red pandas terrorizing rural China? You would watch it.
