    The minimum wage in Japan is still usually only ¥1,000 (just over $8).

    So, I would say, No.

      Higher than US lol

      Although I doubt anyone is getting 7.25 per hour since at that point, it is pretty much not working but just providing free labour for the benefit of the better people

        It’s pretty much the same in Japan. The National Minimum Wage is actually lower (despite being raised just last year), but almost every company offers higher starting wages. It varies wildly between where in Japan and which job you’re working.

        The lowest I’ve seen in recent years is ¥1,000 to ¥1,200 for “bottom rung” jobs, like fast food or convenience stores. And I’ve seen them go as high as ¥1,800 depending on which shift you’re willing to work.
