    Explanation: Julian the Apostate was the last Pagan Emperor of Rome, and a champion of religious freedom in the Empire for all peoples, Christian, orthodox or heretic, as well as pagans. For obvious reasons, he remains popular amongst non-Christians.

    Some of us love him for other reasons, though! He was a philosopher and a believer in the old ways of the Republic, debating with the Senate and treating himself simply as a citizen-in-office, not a pseudomonarch.
