Settings retains much of the ambiguity, frustration, and dangers of its forebears, albeit with search, which will help a bit when the contents, structure, and vocab of your Settings menu has changed since the advice you need was written.
So, uh, is the constant changing of fucking critical configuration options not bad UI?!
Their whole take is “deep engineer level functions” like control panel is obsolete. Because we get a sleek, settings app! It takes away 95% of the things you can do. But that’s because daddy Microsoft says you don’t need to be able to change those settings anymore.
Fuck this UI that changes whenever the new design intern gets hired and they decide to “rebrand” from flat to box to aero to whatever fucking trend it is. And fuck the user experience when they make the change. Ya know, like moving the start menu to the fucking center. Or having half your start menu fucking ads. No, Microsoft I don’t need search, weather, and stocks ALWAYS at the bottom of my screen.
What a shit take and what a shit headline.
