Hello Everyone! Today, we are very excited to introduce the Aquarius Update! This latest expansion to No Man’s Sky is free to download for existing players, and introduces something that felt like the perfect complement to the new water introduced in WORLDS PART I – fishing! Fishing Fishing in No Man’s Sky is... View Article
I have been spouting mostly nonsense to my friends about NMS, but I truly think NMS has essentially turned into Light No Fire alpha testing. So much of the changes they have made lately really feel like they are trying to flesh out the “small scale” parts of the game, so they can be implemented in some fashion into LNF’s single planet gameplay.
I guess you could call it alpha testing, but I’d just call it smart development. They have to make these things anyway, so add the pieces that work into the existing game so you can make more money while you work on the new game. You also get free press and good PR for giving existing owners more stuff. It only makes sense.
(There are some people who will cry “asset reuse” and complain probably, but in what world is doing more with less bad? Reusing stuff you made is smart and good so you can focus on new things.)
We do a variety of ball-based sports (not exactly soccer/football though), different PVP games (including some specifically designed to emulate old FPS games like CoD), plus both starship and exocraft racing. As well as a HUGE number of minigames - Shield Wrestling, Exo-Darts (launch your exocraft onto a dart board), Companion Racing, and tons of other games.
imagine a planet and someone built a working casino
I did! Only one type of game though, Clover, which is my pachinko / pinball hybrid created for NMS. I used to have one with 4 different games but the logic circuits broke and tbh the newer one is more fun to actually spend time at anyway.
It’s called Caesarus’s Palace Casino, after the Caesarus (and obviously Caesar’s Palace Casino), which was the largest fauna ever discovered in NMS… and I found it! Sorry, I have to mention that every opportunity I get.
I just dont find it convincing that in a far away future, in a space simulation created by a degrading super computer, people would still fish and especially that they would fish with fishing rods!
Sure it is enjoyable, for some, but i feel that there should be some sort of coherence to the theme of the game instead of simply adding element’s that people find enjoyable across any game gengre.

Um, they pretty much confirmed that in the first Worlds update, so yeah.
I mean they did say they’re bringing tech from LNF to NMS in I wanna say the worlds update so I think you’re definitely on to something
I’m pretty sure the Incinerator / flamethrower for the Minotaur is testing for the LNF dragon breath
True… fishing in a space game? It feels wrong.
no way, feels great. Having more stuff to do on the planets you go to is part of a space game I feel
We need planets where we can have even more fun stuff to do, like FIFA tournaments, and CoD matches. People like those too… maybe a casino too?
We do all of that in Galactic Hub space!

Why? I don’t like fishing myself, but many other people do, and it doesn’t really feel out of place to me, it’s just an activity like any other.
