Is that right? According to my sidebar we don’t and I think we need to fix that if we want to make this community grow. We might be able to contact the instance admin and have some people installed, but how do we do this fairly? Election via upvote, and we send the URL to the admins with the request maybe? Lets talk about this since this is our community after all.
It’s probably a matter of how Kbin and Lemmy interact. On Kbin I see two moderators listed.
That’s correct, but I’ve also spoken to one of the mods I’m not going to post a conversation without someone’s consent but I wouldn’t reach out to the admins about this if there was any chance that we have a real mod presence. Also it’s almost been a day and not a single mod response on here. If someone comes in and starts posting whatever they want we are helpless right now.

Part of the thing is - moderating on Kbin is just… removing stuff. When people report, it goes into the void - there’s no queue out there of reported things for me to attend to. Does it go to the server admins? I have no idea. The mod log shows actions I’ve taken – which is one comment removal to test reports to see where they show up. They didn’t show up anywhere, I had to manually hunt it down. Literally if anything else has been reported in the last month, it doesn’t show anywhere for me. I have no alerts.

But yeah. Once that gets figured out, it makes sense to add more mods. But if this is really how it works, moderating means reading every post every day hunting for material as your reports mean nothing. And I thought Reddit moderation was terrible…
Hi Gloom, thanks for responding and alleviating some concerns. Considering the issues around moderation and the current amount of time and energy that would need to be dedicated to helping keep the community/magazine running and it good shape wouldn’t that mean it’s even more imperative to have a team of moderators?

I do agree with you. I’ll sidebar with Kitty at some point, if nothing else than because I know they know most of the folks here from Discord & can help with recommendations who to invite.
In the meantime I’ll also do some more digging and see what I can learn, as I really hope there’s more that I simply have not discovered yet, and would like to get additional mods started on the right foot.
