Anbernic have been doing a lot of shady stuff with their devices as of late, especially when it comes to QC. Doesn’t suprise me they’ve cut corners elsewhere too.
I have a 351v that has been very hard to replace. I was originally going to go with one of their XX devices recently but instead decided to go with a pow kiddy v10 with the intention of eventually soldering a usb WiFi adapter on the inside.
They used leaded solder. I’d hardly call that cutting corners.
As a newbie solderer, I can say with certainty that the overwhelming majority of hand soldering is leaded. All the experts and all the advice out there recommends using leaded solder, especially to beginners because “it’s easier to work with” (anecdotally, I haven’t found that to be the case, but that’s another story)
Not saying these devices are hand soldered, just that using leaded solder is far more common than you’d think

Par for the course for Chinese companies.
Pretty sad, when I was first getting into these the anbernic 351mp was my first device. Loved that thing, looked and felt great.
