One that threw me for a loop was Trump claimed Harris would perform transgender surgeries on illegal immigrants in prison, and according to this 2019 ACLU Survey response that was partially true:

medically necessary care for gender transition, including surgical care, while incarcerated or
detained. Transition treatment is a medical necessity, and I will direct all federal agencies
responsible for providing essential medical care to deliver transition treatment.”
Transgender people in the justice system can be impacted by negative mental health by their body type or perceived societal judgement.
If medical health professionals believe it would benefit their mental health to a place that could give them the positive self image enough to properly exist within our society? Maybe worth it.
Justice system should be about reform not punishment
Because all medical decisions should be between a medical health professional and the individual. Not the government or private health insurance money pit
That’s cool, I didn’t know that. I’m not totally on board with that type of care, but I’m neither a medical professional nor someone who would be involved. If the best medical opinion is that it’s necessary …. When we take away someone’s rights and send them to prison, that makes us responsible for their human rights, including medical treatment
