Having just moved off ml myself, getting tired of being called something I wasn’t

I’m gonna guess they were calling you a liberal. In the context of leftist politics or any relevant literature since 1848 or so, liberal means you support the capitalist mode of production. When Mao wrote the pamphlet “Combat Liberalism”, he wasn’t advocating a really aggressive style of liberalism, and he certainly wasn’t advocating combating liberalism with conservatism.

Here’s a book on what it meant to all the major liberal philosophers.

If 344 pages is too long, here’s a song from the 60s about liberals that’s no less true today.

I’m on .ml and the problem isn’t others at ml. I’ve expressed in more than one thread that I’m not a communist or etc - I’d place myself in roughly the same place as Bernie Sanders if I had to pick a spot on the left-right spectrum.

The only time it’s been a problem is when I had opinions about communism or Russia, and THEN it was primarily hexbear folks who came at me hard. The ml folks I disagreed with were passionate but courteous.

The problem with being on ml is people not on ml being dicks about being a user on ml, for the most part.
