This was the closest I could find to a breakdown of LRT3 cost rationalisations and I uploaded it to Reddit. I wish I could find the same for MRT2!

Ikr?! It was unnecessary to have Anthony Loke flaunt about reintroducing what was then known as My100 while failing to ensure PT would be well-maintained. Surely in 2019 MOT could have anticipated when things would start to break down. Even the MRT toilets were getting disgusting back then.
i have seen first hand how funds are allocated I do not blame Anthony Loke or MoT as it is almost entirely beyond their control.
Each year before budget period, each department in Malaysia will have to submit their expenditure proposals to the Treasury Board Secretariat. They will essentially scrutinise these proposals and make an estimate before sending it to the cabinet for further adjustment, depending on the cabinet’s priority for the year. Beyond intra-party/cabinet politics, there’s also other stakeholder interests that needs to be taken into consideration. For example, e-hailing lobby groups can assert that they need more market share, essentially forcing the government to reduce some essential services. bloody unethical but… it’s something that could happen very frequently anywhere.
That said if you piss off Lim Kit Malam or the PM, it goes without saying your Department will suffer as a consequence and will have very little money to work with for the year.
Im more commenting about the fact that we have very redundant agencies like religious gov organisations that applying arbitrary laws , core agencies such as PDRM and MCMC (SKMM) performing functions beyond their reach such as nabbing people for exercising free speech etc ie. insulting religion and royalty… All of these government functions are funded by taxpayers money for very little real world ROI and gain… when they should have been spent elsewhere like public transport which is an essential function that does yield ROI.

Quite sus right when Tony Pua once suggested they could replace feeder buses with Grab? Luckily Kumpool and DRT in general appeared to fill in the gap.
