I’m surprised to hear obfuscation helped on the ascent. I usually have the opposite problem. Not enough enemies spawn on my way to the stairs to turn the amulet back to green, and I end up having to wait around for something to kill.
I almost never take the stairs up when the amulet isn’t green. Sometimes I make an exception on the floors just before the boss floors (21, 16, etc) if I need the healing and I’m sick of those enemies.
For me enemies mostly moved around me about 80% of the time and spawned enough to get the amulet to green. The rat king armor definitely helps on a couple levels with ranged enemies that noticed me. It was most likely thanks to the ROA I had too
