Sounds like a lot, but who’s to say Putin isn’t ready to lose 1 million? Maybe 2? They lost 26 million during world war II. Even if they lost 500 thousand in 2 years, it’s still way better than World War II for them.

During world war 2 there were 196,700,000 Soviets. Now there are about 143M.

People are a lot more willing to support you sending them to die in a war when it’s your own country being invaded. This is a bit different.

I appreciate the difference, but what is really going to stop Putin from boiling the frog? He doesn’t have an imminent threat, but just by prolonging this war, it might turn into one or be presented as one. Actually it was even presented as an imminent threat to justify the invasion.

Putin already had Wagner revolt over this war. And they’re paid to fight. You know what happened after a while in Vietnam? Troops started fragging the officers out of frustration. And those troops couldn’t get back to the U.S. easily. They weren’t near the U.S. border.

They’re already killing their leaders. Quite a few instances of it happening. Once putin is completely out of prisoners and rural fodder, and he has to send the city people in, it’s going to get a lot worse for him

There is hope that the West will finally take it seriously after the EU commission voted on strikes in Russian territory. If they inflict enough damage, drive out the invaders, and create a buffer zone, maybe the war will end in Ukraine’s favor. I guess only time will tell.
