I honestly don’t know why I have an account. The once a year I log in, I see that it’s a self help - self promotion death spiral of despair and I immediately nope out. That’s not even counting the advertising dms, which are sent straight from satan’s asshole.

It was the same for me. When I saw a few days ago that they were switching to Microsoft Azure, that was the last straw for me (even though it actually makes absolutely no difference to me). The funniest part is that when I clicked to delete my account, they said: ‘Are you sure? You will no longer be in contact with Jon Doe?’ and I had never heard of Jon Doe. The easiest decision ever.

It’s really just a way for former coworkers thatdon’t know your personal email or phone, or don’t feel comfortable using them if they do, to reach out to you if they have an opening or are looking for one after a layoff or something urgent.

I feel like companies basically force you to have one at this point. Last time I applied for jobs literally every application has a section to post your linkedin profile.
