This is 100% my mom. She will brag about her guns and how tough she is, but at the end of the day she’s terrified of everything.

It definitely affected my childhood because she didn’t want me to do anything because the world is scary and I might get hurt.

My dad was drafted into Vietnam at 19, so once I went to university he was like ‘this is stupid’ and would send me money to pay for things like flying lessons because a) he had been a pilot and wanted me to do it, and b) he was sick of her rules.

So his outlook was pretty much I was doing this thing at your age, you’re old enough to live your life, you’re smart enough to make (mostly) the right decisions, and when you don’t, you need to learn life lessons if you want to grow and survive as an adult in the real world.

I never finished the flying lessons because I realized it wasn’t for me and I wasn’t enjoying it, but I had to do it first in order to know that.

My Dad was awesome and I miss him a lot. Thursday will mark 15 years. Sorry, this is off topic, and TLDR growing up with these people as parents sucks.
