Interesting, it seems like I’m the opposite of this approach, I regularly use Documents, Music, Pictures and Videos but almost never use Recent, Starred or Other Locations. If there’s one I’d like to remove it would be Downloads, since it feels almost redundant because few files originate as anything other than downloads these days, surely? If I don’t discipline myself to do a weekly tidy of Downloads it becomes a dumping ground for everything.
My Downloads directory is just a temp folder for me.
It’s more or less that for me as well, every week I try to go through Downloads and sort things in to categories like Documents, Music, Pictures, Videos, and others). I would have thought that getting rid of Downloads as a default sidebar entry would help enforce that discipline, but getting rid of everything except downloads would have the opposite effect.
I still navigate to the Downloads folder a lot though. I think the bigger story is that it will just be customizable instead though. I love the idea.
