This is usually all plastic and flammable. It also drains down to the ground. So the primary point of ignition is the drain tray. The flames on the ground might catch some parts of the engine compartment on fire as well.
The cabin air intake is at the bottom of the front windshield on most vehicles, so a lot of that fuel is going into the car’s ventilation system.
It’s probably an effective way to light a car on fire.
