If every vote counts, then withhold your Kamala vote on the condition that they will stop a genocide. Parties pay attention to vote totals and where they’re winning and losing and what issues are connecting to voters. It’s only true that you can’t change the genocidal nature of Democrat’s if you believe it.

Even if you don’t think you’re going to stop them from committing genocide, you should still uphold that moral point and condition your vote on it

Because I know that won’t work, and will only make matters worse. Acting like a petulant, naive child won’t stop the violence.

Someone in another thread put it this ways, “who would you rather protest under?”

You don’t see the irony of replying that after basically saying “the only thing stopping your vote from mattering is not believing in it”?

acting like a petulant, naive child

Sorry that you’re discomforted by my protest against genocide

who would you rather protest under

You’re literally under democrat government, so I hope that you’re saying this while organising and attending protest. How about, hear me out, protesting with your vote as I explained

What you’re doing is called equivocation.

If you say “I can’t hit the ball, so I’m not even going to swing!” that’s a self-fulfilling failure. You believe you will fail, so you don’t try. You’ve given up, and you will never hit the ball.

If you say, “I will use a pool noodle to bat!” it isn’t irony to say “that won’t work” because the two efforts are not the same. Given the rules of baseball and physics, using a pool noodle is functionally equivalent or worse to not swinging. Even if you managed to make contact, the resulting hit would be ineffective, and likely wouldn’t matter anyway because it’s against the established rules. Believing in your pool noodle is not a valid effort, nor is casting a third-party vote in a national Presidential election.

You’ve caused me no discomfort, because you’re not my responsibility. Your cause is just, but your methods are misguided to the point that one must question your true intentions.

And yes, I have protested, I have organized protests, and I will organize more in the future. If I’m lucky, Trump will not be able to put me in jail or incite violence against my family for it. That’s why I’m voting for Harris.

So basically your whole argument is “we can’t possibly stop the democrats from supporting a genocide, it’s as physically impossible as making a home run with a pool noodle”. If the American system is truly so fucked up, then you must agree with the following: Death to America as a country.

            Do you agree?

We can’t possibly stop the Democratic candidate for president from supporting genocide before the election, no. Not with third party votes. Something else might happen to change her mind, but I doubt it. The money and the voters support her supporting Israel, so there will be no shift in international policy. After the election, when Harris does not have to win the popular vote, and she has the authority and time to present a nuance and coherent plan for peace, maybe then. Maybe not, but it’s worth trying because it’s the only path to end the violence.

then you must agree with the following: Death to America as a country.

Not even a little bit. Sorry to disappoint you there, but I believe in America, imperfect as she is. I believe America is the greatest force for freedom and equality in the world right now, the only superpower keeping the autocrats and fascists at bay. Death to bigotry and hatred, death to fascism and fanaticism, death to religious and nationalist extremism, death to violence as a means of change.

Ok, I’m sorry, I can’t even keep a straight face at that. I hope you’ll reflect a bit. Have a good day, rofl

“America, despite being on the brink of fascism and its political alternative still being genocidal, is the bulwark of freedom and equality. Never mind the history of subversion, coups, and literal war against democratically elected governments all over the world, and our support of monarchic, fascist, and literally genocidal regimes. Anyone who wants the US to stop doing these things is part of a counter-intelligence program”

American exceptionalism is one HELL of a drug
