“No administration has helped Israel more than I have,” Biden said. “None. None, none. And I think Bibi should remember that. And whether he’s trying to influence the election, I don’t know but I’m not counting on that.”

“No administration has helped Israel more to turn itself into a pariah state” I think is what he meant to say.

He’d better hope Donald Trump doesn’t win the next election or else Joe Biden will go down in history as the president who loved genociding brown people so much he sacrificed US democracy for it.

Joe Biden will go down in history as the president who loved genociding brown people so much he sacrificed US democracy for it.

That cake is baked. The question to me right now is can we get Harris into office before a flaming hot war becomes a reality. Biden is obviously not in command right now, so who is?

I thought you might know what you’re talking about until that last sentence

I’m not suggesting some conspiracy or shadowy cabal, but rather that our foreign policy is coming largely from Biden’s aides and Blinken, and not Biden himself. I didnt mean for the statement to come of as conspiratorial.

I mean… that’s kind of how it works? The president isn’t some kind of demi-god that holds all knowledge and power in their hands while in office… they have lots of staffers and consultants that provide info and policy suggestions.

Sure. For things like which bridge to build or school lunches.

Things like the US policy on Israel/ Gaza, or US policy on Ukraine/ Russia: issues like this are always elevated to the top.

And so to me its a “Buck stops where?” question. Like, at a certain point, the buck stops with some one and I’m suggesting it isn’t Biden right now. The guy is clearly not in faculatative command and doesnt (I think) seem aware of the basics of the situation, as the article demonstrates.

So… you’re saying the Secretary of State is meant to be an international gofer for the president? That no one is supposed to do anything without a clear directive from the president?

No wonder so many people seem to think the presidency is the only election that matters, they consider the role that of a god-king of ultimate power…

I don’t think I suggested that. Seems like you are projecting something fantastical into what I said.

I’m suggesting that the issues of highest stakes don’t leave the presidents desk. World order issues. I think both Israel/Gaza and Ukraine/ Russia qualify for this. And I don’t think Biden is doing the job.

before a flaming hot war becomes a reality

I’m giving you the benefit of the doubt and assuming you mean a wider conflict with ground armies clashing, and not that you mean there is no flaming hot war right now.

Over 100,000 people in Gaza are dead or have been missing long enough to be presumed dead. Here in Lebanon 2,000 people are dead, almost all civilians, including 100 medical staff, a whole section of the city has been turned into embers, and 1/5th of the country is displaced in overfilled shelters.

And by shelters I mean crumbling public schools with individual donations making up most of the shelter supplies.

I don’t even know what my life will look like in one week, and I’m in a much better situation than others. The American political bickering in every corner of the internet (the place I go to for a quick escape) has been extra exhausting.

This is worse than the July war in 2006, this is definitely a flaming hot war in my book.

You are absolutely right and I should not be diminishing what’s happening. I’m just incredibly frustrated by the impotence of Biden, the willingness of Democrats to just carry water, and the unwillingness of Harris to to step up and do the right thing.
