The German government expects the economy to shrink for a second year running and has slashed its forecasts, a leading daily says. An industrial slowdown, lower exports and rising energy costs are seen as the culprits.

Are we really doing astroturfing for nuclear power on lemmy now?

I mean tbh not saying you’re a paid shill but this has become so annoying on Reddit that I still have PTSD and really renewables aren’t a price driver but meh I’m not getting into this discussion.

Shutting down a 90% recyclable method of generating safe, incredibly large amounts of power is a stupid move, who would’ve thought.

No I’m not shilling. Germany literally just recently shut them all down, and now are complaining about rising energy costs sending them into a recession. A problematic move that was predicted by just about everybody, even most germans thought it was a bad idea.

And now we have this article. Pro nuclear or not, axing a huge chunk of your country’s power production in an age of exponentially growing power demands, is definitely not a good idea.

Germany shut the remaining two or three down. The others were shut down years ago, some in the 2000s others in the 2010s and replaced with renewables and gas power plants.

When the remaining one’s were axed, they barely provided 2% of yearly power.

There are also no exponentially growing power demands. Germany and the EU at large have had flat power consumption over the last 20 years. This guy, like the average nuclear shill, has no idea what he’s talking about.
