My in-laws are bitching about “how bad” the weather will be after it makes it’s way to Ohio.
I understand losing power for a few hours is irritating, but have some fucking perspective. You can go see actual devastation with a single tank of gas.
Columbus to Charlotte would be a 690km ride, and that is nowhere close to Florida. The US is huge. Biking and ebiking is great for cities, but the US is huge and needs high-speed trains for interstate travel between city pairs.

Your in-laws sound like assholes.
You are correct.
Also, Milton is projected to cross from the Gulf straight across Florida into the Atlantic.
I’m no meteorologist, but I’m pretty sure Ohio’s weather isn’t going to be significantly impacted this time.
You know, you just might be on to something.
I doubt they have at any point bothered to look at a weather report though.
What, you expect them to “do their own research” or something?
If you’re using gas, you’re already the asshole
Cool. Buy me an electric vehicle or shut the fuck up.
Bicycle. If you can’t join a bicycle share program or spend a few $100 on a bicycle, walk.

Ive biked that distance, but if you don’t have the time, don’t go. And, yes, vote for green party who will actually build trains
