“…I’m gonna get real weird with it.” - Frank Reynolds
Got this yesterday after debating getting one for a few months now since it’s on sale this month. It’s completely unruly and I love it. For the unaware the Data Corrupter is a monophonic octave synth pedal. I think the closest thing I’ve used to it is an MXR Blue Box.
The way I’ve been using it so far is to treat the pedal like a mono synth and the guitar as just the “keyboard” for the synth. I see it more of a true “effect” rather than something you add to your tone. Like I would use as embellishment or just for general noise in a song or set. You can totally make some thick riffs though and I’m trying to record something like that after messing with this thing.
It combines well with a lot of effects as long as they come after the DC in the chain. Slow phaser and some delay/reverb has been nice.
I think the one downside is that in true mono octave fashion you really have to play around the 12th fret for “usable” tones. It tracks pretty well below that but you’re pushing into fart territory on the A and E strings. You have to play to the pedal or let it do it’s thing and it’s not a pedal for fast licks.
Did you say … fart territory?
Ah I see you’re a man of culture as well.
