    Quick reminder: NATO’s Article 5, which is the principle of collective defense, has been invoked only once in its history. This occurred in response to the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, in the United States.

      Fun reminder but I get the sense that kind of means it’s working? Although I’m not sure which NATO countries would have been invaded without it… there’s always been a bit of a buffer zone, as places like Poland were added after cold war. I guess you could argue it’s more of a nuclear umbrella, though, for the counties without them.

      Kind of silly it was used for 9/11, though.

        Yea, not saying that the NATO is the best possible organization to keep the peace, just saying that it’s plain wrong to claim that the US does not benefit from it as well.
