Paramount has preregistered copyright for the upcoming animated sequel movie featuring the adult gaang.

Synopsis:

Years following the events of the original series, a new evil threatens the future of all four nations. Avatar Aang must rally his friends to defeat a new villain, the likes of which they’ve never seen before.

Cast:

Eric Nam will voice Aang; Román Zaragoza will voice Sokka; and Dionne Quan as Toph. Dave Bautista has been announced as the villain of the movie. Surprisingly, it also lists Steven Yeun as undisclosed cast member. Yeun previously voiced Avatar Wan (the first Avatar) in The Legend of Korra.

Absent from the copyright preregistration are Jessica Matten who will voice Katara; and Dante Basco who has been rumored to return as Zuko.

They might even drop “Avatar” from the movie title completely this time around in order to avoid confusion with the blue alien guys

Hopefully they put ATLA on the movie posters or something.

This would be a surefire way to kill the movie on arrival barring an extremely aggressive campaign to associate the Gaang with fucking “Lost Realm”.

      What makes you say that?

The studio is “Avatar Studios” after all, and Paramount’s copyright is older.

The fact that their title registration is “Lost World”, not “Avatar: Lost World” or “ATLA: Lost World”.

Hmm. Well Marvel (for instance) doesn’t insert the Marvel title into movies, but they make it crystal clear in the marketing. I would bet Avatar or Avatar Studios is still plastered over it somehow.
