Look, I agree with you, but up to a point. I can barely navigate my own life and I’m responsible for yours? No thank you. I didn’t vote for Kang, I wasn’t gonna vote for Kodos, and I do not see how any result could possibly be my fault. The ancestors agreed to let fascism rise before I was a single cell in mom’s developing uterus. My state votes red, always, no matter what I do. I can’t afford to leave, but I believe I have never once had my interests represented by my vote. I’ll still vote, because it is my duty as a citizen. My choice or yours, we all get turd sandwiches.

Blame and bully me to death if you want, but isn’t there someone else more controlling, with more influence on the election who surprisingly is not subject to the same blame or bullying?

Then you aren’t the target of this! Many folks refuse to vote and then act all upset that their wishes aren’t being respected. No shit they aren’t, you haven’t presented any wishes. None of us chose to be responsible for the future of our nation, but if you want to continue to live in a democracy, then you need to contribute to that democracy. It is a duty as a citizen and in my opinion should be mandatory.

Don’t get me wrong though, I completely understand your perspective. Mostly because I’ve felt a lot of it myself. Make no mistake, I am also blaming and bullying the ass off the current US administration that enabled this and the previous generations that allowed it to progress. But shitting on Boomers doesn’t help fix the problems we have today.

Just remember, a state doesn’t vote. People vote. Your state votes red because people in that state vote red. If enough people come out to flip that, then the state vote will flip. Voting in local elections will help ensure this much more than only showing up every 4 years to vote in the presidential.

We still, as of now, have a viable path forward that can prevent bloodshed and collapse of American society. I am going to fight tooth and claw to follow that path if we are able. If we aren’t, then so be it. But I will not suffer apathy to destroy my home. End of story.

Thank you so much for this thoughtful response. I didn’t think about it that way. You made a very good point about local elections.

You also need to realize that just because your state always votes red, it’s NOT JUST THE PRESIDENTIAL VOTE that matters. It’s the local politicians that get seats in the House and Senate that matter just as much (or more?!?). Pay attention just more than just who’s running for President.
