I think it’s also worth considering this in the context of FOSS and it’s ability to empower as such. Self-hosted stuff or implants that are capable of containing their own computation rather than being required to use the internet to the cloud may help with this ^.^
I’m never getting a brain implant, I don’t care what people have to say about it. If even one tiny little thing goes wrong with it you’ll either die or be mentally handicapped for life.
Yet, this implant enabled the poor lady to live a somewhat normal life for a few years. I imagine that if I had this type of chronic and severe disability that could be significantly helped with an implant I would go for it, damn the risks.
I’d be okay with it, if there wasn’t any malicious intent behind the plan of what they want to do with them in a few years.
It’s only a matter of time before these brain implants will make you want to buy materialistic crap.
