Yeah the term “racist joke” causes a ton of unintentional damage. Invoking the stereotypes, even playing a character who believes them with a big “kick me” target on your back, isn’t racist. It’s absurdist. Because racism is absurd. And laughing at absurd things is funny. Laughing dumb shit out of the room is overwhelmingly the most effective (not to mention most fun!) way to get rid of it.
