The data – and proxy records such as tree rings and ice cores – shows this year is likely to be the hottest in at least 125,000 years. Right now, the world is on track for as much as 3.1C (5.58F) of warming based on already pledged emissions cuts, assuming they are fulfilled. Copernicus Climate Change Service reported early Thursday that the year is headed for a temperature anomaly of more than 1.55C (2.79F) above preindustrial levels. Last year fell just shy of the 1.5C threshold relative to the 1850-1900 average.
Don’t know how related this is but any of my northeastern American friends here can likely verify just how insanely warm it’s been these past couple weeks. We hit a high of 70° today
65 here in the northern Rockies, but CO is getting a blizzard. it’s pretty strange stuff. you’d think it would be colder Here.
It has been unusually warm in my area too.
When I was a kid we had to put warm clothes under the costume to go trick or treating in the snow. Now we’re a week into Nov and it’s rained for about a day and a half so far.
