      Plato had this whole thing about perfect forms that exist outside the physical world, and those perfect forms get corrupted once they are manifested in reality.

      Not sure if he specifically had an ideal definition of friendship, or the notion of a perfect, non romantic friendship is described as Platonic because of how messy real world relationships can get.

        I think it was more to do with expectations in a relationship. In a platonic relationship the only thing you want from a friend is companionship and their company. Anyone who chooses to be your friend with no exchange of anything means they’re in your life because of a mutual desire for eachother’s friendship.
