Summary
The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) is considering leaving Elon Musk’s X due to its role in spreading misinformation, ECDC Director Pamela Rendi-Wagner said at POLITICO’s Health Care Summit.
“Twitter, or X, is now in every newspaper. Everybody is leaving X, and maybe for good reasons. We are discussing this as well at ECDC at the moment,” she stated.
Rendi-Wagner stressed the need for clearer, engaging communication to rebuild trust, while acknowledging social media’s potential for positive community engagement.
Stop considering, and start putting contingencies. There’s no reason to limit yourself to one platform when there are tools to keep stuff in sync.
A proper government run mastodon instance and bridges to blue sky seems a good option.
Mastodon on the government domain and a proper naming convention for blue sky accounts and an agreement they will limit the use of the naming convention to official accounts. Amsterdam-gov-nl paris-gov-fr eucdc-gov-eu or something.
You can also use your own domain with the bridged Bluesky account

Can you recommend tools to keep stuff in sync?
If you want something turnkey there’s Buffer.
Another option is to leverage the use of bridges, for example there’s Bridgy Fed that allows you to have a presence on both Bluesky and or Mastodon from a single account on either platform.
