Summary

Tuvalu, a Pacific Island nation threatened by rising sea levels, is creating a “digital twin” to preserve its culture, heritage, and sovereignty.

Using advanced technology like 3D mapping and blockchain, the project aims to digitally replicate the islands, infrastructure, and even personal stories.

The initiative, part of Tuvalu’s “Future Now” plan, also includes digital passports to maintain state functions if physical territory is lost.

While some view the plan as impractical or symbolic, others see it as a vital adaptation to climate change, complementing efforts to physically protect the islands.
