Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum says Mexico could retaliate with tariffs of its own, after President-elect Donald Trump threatened to impose 25% tariffs on Mexican goods if the country doesn’t stop the flow of drugs and migrants across the border.
If I remember right, it’s a supply chain thing where a ton of stuff gets made in China but is still a US product and sometimes finished here. Think iPhones, for example. Apple is still a US company, it’s not like China can just sell Mexico iPhones direct.
Ps this is also why tariffs are extremely stupid.
