    I don’t know how they do it in India, but in America there would be all sorts of things you would have to actively ignore or circumvent to allow that to happen.

      Reading the article, it sounds like there might have been little to nothing warning them that the bridge had washed out and was being repaired. If that’s the case I would put less blame on the map when the bridge used to connect but no longer does because of the damage (although an online map should update relatively quickly in those circumstances).

      We act like there is a difference… The reality is just that people ignore signs. It doesn’t matter where you’re from or where you are, there’s a large portion of the population that just ignores relevant signage. Anyone that’s ever worked in any sort of retail or similar customer-facing role can corroborate.
