minus-squareFuck spezlinkfedilinkEnglish2•2 days agoIt’s not an actual VPN, it just tells the OS that it is and then routes traffic from blocked apps to 127.0.0.1 or 0.0.0.0 rather than a real VPN endpoint.
This also doesn’t work with a VPN
You can use port forwarding.
No everyone is using a VPN

Protection against what?
Dropping your pants to every site you visit, telling them where you live and who your Internet provider is, yadida yadida.
It’s not an actual VPN, it just tells the OS that it is and then routes traffic from blocked apps to 127.0.0.1 or 0.0.0.0 rather than a real VPN endpoint.
That’s not how that works
