Summary
The politicization of transgender children in the U.S. has escalated, with more than half of states banning gender-affirming care for minors since Arkansas passed the first ban in 2021.
Tennessee’s HB1, prohibiting transition-related care while allowing similar treatments for non-transition purposes, faces a Supreme Court challenge led by the ACLU and DOJ.
Conservative justices appear poised to uphold the law, citing states’ rights and physiological differences.
Critics argue the law enforces gender roles and violates the 14th Amendment.
Good thing they aren’t passing laws that target people who dress as a gender other than what’s on their birth certificate, or use a bathroom, or get an ID card, or perform in drag, or teach about transgender people.
That would all definitely go beyond life changing medical decisions of children.
Oh wait.
And they’re banning the medication that puts puberty on pause and is responsible for reducing suicide rates in trans teenagers. So no. This isn’t about saving the kids. This is about hurting them, and the adults.
