The rest of the family decided to drop the topic since there were “equal” sides to the arguments. Christmas was actually good, once the obnoxious ones left.
I held my ground under a drunken barrage of old people’s useless anecdotes at my partner’s Christmas, when the go-to strategy was to ignore it. Everyone left the conversation happy so that’s progress lol.
